Biography
Myungseop Hong, born in 1948 in Pyeongyang, studied sculpture at Seoul National University. He drew attention of the art world at home and abroad when he was invited to the 44th Venice Biennale in 1990. He has been invited to prestigious exhibitions such as ASIANA, special project of the Venice Biennale (1995), Fellbach Triennial of Small-scale Sculpture (Triennale Klienplastik Fellbach, 1995, Stuttgart, Germany), National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (1995, Korea), Kunstforum International (1997, Dresden, Germany), Special Exhibition at the Gwangju Biennale (1997), Media City-Seoul (2000), Pusan International Contemporary Art Festival (2000), the Biennale of Ceramics in Contemporary Art (2003, Savona, Italy), Art Canal International (2006, Biel, Switzerland), the Busan Biennale (2008), Incheon International Digital Art Festival (2009), “FLOW” Kunstbad (2012, Graz, Austria), Exhibition at Cultural Center of Novi Sad (2012, Serbia), and the Busan Biennale (2016).
