Biography
Sung Jae Lee (b. 1985, Seoul, Korea) works across drawing and installation, developing a distinctive practice that extends line into space. After studying in Korea and the United States, he has focused on constructing suspended “drawings” using thread, beads, and delicate materials, forming geometric structures that shift with light and movement. His work often centers on intimate narratives drawn from personal experience, with recurring themes of family, memory, and the passage of time. Through a labor-intensive and repetitive process, he transforms fragile materials into quietly immersive environments that balance precision with emotional resonance. His work has been widely exhibited internationally and recognized with awards such as the Grand Prize at the ZOOM-IN Edition 5 art fair.
