About the Artists
Risa Murakami
Kanagawa, Japan, b. 1971
Risa Murakami was born into a family of Japanese-style painter in Kanagawa, JAPAN and received an early start on the painting. At 13, she began to draw Japanese style painting. In 1993, she decided to study in the U.S.A. and commenced to study at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. After returning from the U.S.A. she studied at Musashino Art University and also she became a pupil of Horin Fukuouji, Kazuhiko Fukuouji ,who are the members of the Nihon Bijutsuin, DOUNIN. She is a member of Nihon Bijutsuin, INYU. Her current style of Japanese painting is mainly inspired by the Japanese nature, especially shadows and the light of plants and trees reflected on water. She goes out to look for subjects such as untouched ponds and rivers. The surface of the water changes its expression in an instant, depending on the season, weather and time of day. She feels that it is like a mirror that reflects her mind as she paint the many faces of the water. She aims to combine the traditional techniques of Japanese painting with modern interior design.

Seoul, South Korea, b. 1966
Sangmin Lee (b. 1966, Seoul, Korea) studied in France at the École supérieure des arts décoratifs de Strasbourg and Strasbourg Marc Bloch University, and is currently a professor at Chung-Ang University. Working primarily with engraved glass, he creates subtle, light-based images of historical ceramic forms, drawing from traditional Korean vessels. His practice centers on the interplay of light, shadow, and transparency, where forms appear and dissolve depending on the viewer’s position and surrounding conditions. Through this approach, he brings past and present into quiet alignment, treating the vessel not as an object but as a trace of memory and time. His works are held in a range of international collections, including the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Korea as well as institutional and corporate collections across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
