'Bloodline'

LEE & BAE is pleased to present 'Bloodline', a solo exhibition by Kyoto based artist Sangsun Bae. Bloodline traces the invisible threads that tie birth, pain, and rebirth together. In this exhibition, black ropes descend from the ceiling like veins, knots, and lifelines. They speak of the tension and weight of a woman's life of what binds her and what she must break through. Standing among the hanging ropes, the viewer enters the artist's body of memory; a space where silence and pain weave together, where the cycle of living is felt as something both fragile and unbreakable. This exhibition also presents a diverse range of media, including monochromatic black-and-white paintings composed of countless lines on velvet, as well as rope installations, ceramics, glass works, and drawings. Through the motif of the line a symbol connecting blood, time, and the origin of life the artist portrays the changes and traces she has experienced as a woman, depicting them as a “life on the line.”
